A new period influenced house with a contemporary twist.
This site occupies a great spot in one of the Ribble Valley’s beautiful rural villages, with fantastic views out across the beautiful surrounding landscape. This large detached dwelling incorporates elegant proportions and details associated with Georgian period architecture, which was an important consideration of the Client’s brief and influenced the design approach.
“This project showcases just what can be achieved by embracing period architectural influences and fusing these with contemporary design, in order to create a building that exudes quality. The exciting part of this is how the interface has been considered and articulated through the selection of materials and close attention to detailing.”
Large timber sliding sash windows are framed by dressed stone surrounds and the central paneled front door leads into a generous hallway accommodating a feature cut-string staircase.
This property seamlessly combines period influenced architecture with more contemporary design. This is reflected in the impressive two storey glazed corner towards the rear of the house, which allows the family kitchen and master bedroom above to integrate with the garden and surroundings with large sliding glazed doors.
The feature-projecting stone-built chimney incorporates an outside fireplace, and this element subtly controls the juncture between the more traditional period frontage of the house with contemporary design of the rear.
This is an exciting project which shows how it is possible to fuse period architectural influences with contemporary design, to create a new family home that embodies traditional values with modern-day living and aspirations.
